How Many Hours of Maid Service Do You Need in Abu Dhabi? (2026 Guide by Home Size)

Short answer: for routine cleaning by one maid, most studios need about 2 hours, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments need 2 to 4 hours, 3-bedroom homes need 4 to 6 hours, and villas usually need 6 to 8 hours. Book more time for a first visit, after a long gap, or if you add ironing and laundry. In Abu Dhabi you can book 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours, and longer bookings cost less per hour.

This guide explains how to choose the right booking length, what a maid can realistically finish in each slot, and what it costs in your area, so you are not paying for time you do not need or leaving half the list undone.

Rates in this guide come from the same table as our booking calculator and were checked on 26 October 2026. Your confirmed quote is what applies.

How many hours do you need? A guide by home size

These estimates are for one maid doing routine upkeep: dusting, kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, floors and a general tidy. Use the lower figure for a home that is cleaned regularly and the higher one for a first visit or a busier household.

HomeRegular upkeepFirst visit or after a gap
Studio2 hours4 hours
1-bedroom apartment2–4 hours4 hours
2-bedroom apartment4 hours4–6 hours
3-bedroom apartment or townhouse4–6 hours6–8 hours
3–4 bedroom villa6–8 hours8 hours, or a villa clean
5+ bedroom villa8 hoursA villa cleaning package

The number of bathrooms matters more than the number of bedrooms. A 2-bedroom apartment with three bathrooms usually needs the same time as a 3-bedroom home.

What a maid can finish in 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours

2 hours: a quick reset

  • Kitchen counters, sink and appliance fronts
  • One bathroom: toilet, basin, shower and mirror
  • Dusting of reachable surfaces
  • Vacuuming and mopping a studio or small 1-bedroom
  • Emptying bins

4 hours: a full routine clean

  • Everything in the 2-hour reset, across a 2-bedroom home
  • Two bathrooms cleaned top to bottom
  • Beds made or changed, and a general tidy
  • Or a 1-bedroom clean plus a basket of ironing

6 hours: a larger home or a longer list

  • A routine clean of a 3-bedroom apartment or townhouse
  • Laundry folding and ironing
  • Interior windows and sills within reach
  • Balcony sweep, which matters in sandy months

8 hours: villas and catch-up days

  • A routine clean of a 3–4 bedroom villa
  • A catch-up clean after travel or guests
  • Wardrobe and kitchen cupboard tidying alongside the cleaning

If your list will not fit in 8 hours, it is usually a sign that the home needs a deep clean first, not more maid hours. See when hourly is the wrong choice.

2026 hourly maid rates in Abu Dhabi by zone

The price depends on how many hours you book and which zone the property is in. Zone 1 is inside Abu Dhabi city (for example Downtown, Al Reem Island, Al Bateen and Al Khalidiyah). Zone 2 covers areas such as Khalifa City, MBZ City, Al Raha, Yas Island and Al Shamkha. Zone 3 covers farther areas such as Al Shahama, Al Rahba, Al Samha and Al Wathba.

8 hoursAED 240 (materials included)AED 280 (materials included)AED 320 (AED 330 with materials)

Longer bookings are better value. In Zone 1, a 2-hour visit works out at AED 35 an hour, while 4 hours or more works out at AED 30 an hour. Booking 4 hours instead of 2 costs AED 50 more and doubles the cleaning time.

What adds time to a visit

  • Condition: a home that has not been cleaned for weeks takes much longer than one cleaned weekly
  • Bathrooms: each extra bathroom adds roughly 30 to 45 minutes
  • Laundry and ironing: plan about an hour per full basket
  • Children and pets: more floor cleaning, more tidying and more hair
  • Sand: balconies, sills and floors near the windows collect dust quickly in Abu Dhabi
  • Building access: towers often ask visitors to register at security, which can take time on arrival

Dust is a constant in Abu Dhabi homes. Our guide to keeping sand and dust out of your apartment has simple routines that cut cleaning time between visits.

How to plan your task list so nothing gets skipped

  1. 1Write the tasks in order of priority, with the must-dos first
  2. 2Mark the rooms that matter most this week, such as the kitchen before guests
  3. 3Decide whether you will provide cleaning materials or want them included
  4. 4Point out delicate surfaces, such as marble, wood or glass tables
  5. 5Share entry, parking and building security details before the day
  6. 6Agree what to do if time runs short, so the important tasks are done first

Give the maid your list at the start of the visit, not during it. A clear order at the beginning saves more time than any shortcut.

Weekly, fortnightly or one-off?

A home cleaned every week needs less time per visit, because dirt never builds up. As a guide, 4 hours a week usually keeps a 2-bedroom apartment consistently clean, where a monthly visit would need 6 or more hours to catch up. You can book a single visit or set up recurring visits on the day and time that suit you.

When hourly maid service is the wrong choice

Hourly maids handle routine cleaning. Some jobs need a fixed-price service with the right equipment instead:

  • Heavy grease, limescale and grout: book a deep clean
  • Moving in or out: book a move-in / move-out clean with a set scope
  • Sofas, carpets and mattresses: these need steam extraction equipment
  • Exterior windows above reach height and heavy furniture moving are not part of maid service

A good routine is one deep clean to reset the home, then regular maid service to keep it there. For larger homes, see villa cleaning. Our deep cleaning guide explains what a deep clean covers.

Arrival windows, payment and changes

When you book, you choose a date and an arrival window: 8 – 10 AM, 11 AM – 1 PM, 2 – 4 PM, 5 – 7 PM. The window is when the maid arrives; the cleaning then lasts for the hours you booked. A 4-hour booking with an 8 – 10 AM window can finish as late as 2 PM, so plan your day around both.

  • Nothing is paid upfront: pay in cash after the service, or by card on arrival
  • Reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the visit
  • If a booked area is missed, tell us within 24 hours and we will come back to fix it

Full details are in our refund and cancellation policy.

Maid service FAQs

Is 2 hours enough for a 1-bedroom apartment?

For a home cleaned weekly, often yes. For a first visit, after a gap, or with ironing added, book 4 hours. In every zone, 4 hours is also cheaper per hour than 2.

Do I need to provide cleaning materials?

No. You can choose to have materials included. On longer bookings they cost little or nothing extra, as the rate table above shows.

Can I book a maid every week?

Yes. Tell us your preferred day, arrival window and booking length, and we will set up recurring visits.

What if my task list does not fit the time I booked?

The maid works through your list in the order you gave, so the priority tasks are done first. If the list regularly runs over, book a longer slot or start with a deep clean.

How much is a maid for 4 hours in Abu Dhabi?

In Zone 1 (inside the city) a 4-hour booking is AED 120 (AED 130 with materials). Other zones are listed in the rate table above.

How do I pay?

In cash after the service, or by card on arrival. Nothing is paid online in advance.
